Placer County Public Health reports 3 confirmed measles cases, fourth suspected case

Public health officials in Placer County have confirmed three cases of measles and are investigating a fourth suspected infection. The announcement, made Monday, has prompted a swift public health response to contain the highly contagious virus.

Measles is a serious respiratory disease that spreads easily through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Symptoms typically begin with a high fever, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes, followed by a characteristic red rash that spreads across the body.
