In a first-of-its-kind event for Wisconsin, Kaukauna High School transformed a recent basketball game into a vibrant platform for mental health advocacy. Partnering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Fox Valley, the school hosted a "Go Lime Green" themed game to spark conversation and reduce stigma.
The gymnasium was awash in lime green, the official color of mental health awareness, as students, athletes, and community members showed their support. The event aimed to promote understanding and remind those struggling that they are not alone. Organizers emphasized the importance of open dialogue about mental well-being, especially among young people.
Beyond the excitement of the game itself, the night served as a powerful community-wide statement. It highlighted the critical role schools and sports can play in fostering supportive environments. By integrating this message into a popular school event, Kaukauna provided a visible reminder that mental health is as important as physical health, encouraging students to seek help and support one another without fear of judgment.
