Southeast Utah Health Dept. asks those with foodborne illness symptoms to report online

The Southeast Utah Health Department has launched an investigation into a possible foodborne illness outbreak concentrated in Carbon County. Officials are asking anyone experiencing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach cramps to report their cases through an online form rather than calling the office.

According to the health department, the investigation is in its early stages, and the source of the illness has not yet been identified. By using the online reporting system, residents can help health officials track cases more efficiently and pinpoint the common food or drink that may be causing the problem. The department emphasized that timely reports are critical for stopping the spread and preventing additional people from getting sick.

Health officials also reminded the public that foodborne illness symptoms can appear anywhere from a few hours to several days after consuming contaminated food. Those with severe symptoms, such as high fever, bloody stools, or signs of dehydration, should seek medical attention immediately. The department did not specify which restaurants, grocery stores, or events might be linked to the outbreak, but it assured the community that updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.
