Fairview Health Services has announced it will sell its large administrative campus in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood, a property spanning roughly 200,000 square feet. The health system expects to relocate about 250 employees from the site by the end of the year, marking a significant shift in its office footprint.
The decision comes as part of a broader effort to streamline operations and adapt to changing work patterns. Fairview officials said the move is not tied to financial distress but rather a strategic review of real estate needs. The campus, located near the intersection of University and Snelling avenues, has served as a hub for administrative functions, but the organization now sees more flexibility in remote and hybrid work arrangements.
Employees affected by the relocation will be moved to other Fairview facilities in the Twin Cities metro. The company said it is working to minimize disruption, with a transition plan that includes clear communication and support for staff during the move. The timeline for the sale itself has not been finalized, but the property is expected to be listed on the market soon.
Fairview, which operates several hospitals and clinics across Minnesota, has been undergoing changes in recent years, including a planned integration with another health system. The Midway campus sale is seen as a practical step to reduce overhead and focus resources on patient care rather than maintaining underused office space. Local officials have expressed interest in the site's future, given its prominent location near transit lines and the surrounding commercial district. No buyer has been named yet, and Fairview said it will provide updates as the process moves forward.
